Media buyers in iGaming are judged on one metric above all: cost per deposit (CPD), often refined to cost per first-time depositor (FTD). Most teams attack it with creative testing and bid tweaks. Those help — but the largest, least discussed lever is account stability.
Why bans are the hidden CPD tax
When an ad account gets banned, you do not just lose the account. You lose the pixel's accumulated deposit data, your campaigns restart the learning phase, and CPMs spike while the algorithm re-learns who deposits. Operators running on burner accounts pay this tax every few weeks and read it as "rising CPA." Fix the interruptions and the same creatives and budgets produce cheaper deposits.
The playbook
1. Run on licence-attached, whitelisted accounts
Platforms allow real-money gaming ads from certified, licensed advertisers. Whitelisted agency accounts run casino creatives openly — no cloaking, no restarts. Continuous delivery is exactly what optimization systems need. (New to this? Start with agency vs regular accounts.)
2. Protect pixel maturity like an asset
A pixel that has seen thousands of deposits targets depositors, not clickers. Never rotate pixels with accounts; keep one stable pixel per brand and feed it server-side events as well as browser events.
3. Optimize on the deepest event volume allows
If you get 50+ deposits a week per ad set, optimize on deposit. If not, optimize on registration and let a mature pixel bridge the gap — then move down-funnel as volume grows.
4. Split geos by licence and payback
Blend markets and the algorithm chases the cheapest deposits, which are rarely the best players. Separate campaigns per licence jurisdiction, with budgets weighted by player LTV, not CPD alone.
5. Keep budget continuously deployed
Funding friction — declined cards, stuck top-ups — pauses campaigns and resets momentum. A prepaid wallet feeding every platform keeps spend uninterrupted; see one wallet, every platform.
What to measure weekly
- CPD / cost per FTD, by geo and platform
- Deposit rate from registration (funnel health)
- Account uptime — days without delivery interruption
- Share of spend on mature vs fresh pixels
Compliance note: run gaming ads only where you are licensed and per each platform's certification policy. That is not just legal hygiene — it is what makes the stable-account strategy possible at all.
